NoOps model adoption

19.11.2019, O4 Coworking w Olivia Business Centre

During the speech we will explain what NoOps model means for us in Finastra and how we are adopting such model. In more details, we are going to show how our company’s production and operations requirements look like, and what are the tasks that we automated for such requirements. Our ultimate goal is to get from commit to production in less than 24 hours.
Also, during the presentation we’ll discuss platform services’ CI/CD pipeline as code, quality gates enforcement, and will demo how it works with Azure DevOps.Yet another subject of the presentation will be our pipeline’s integration with company’s release and change management system, which allows to audit any change made to production. And finally, we’ll explain how we configure monitoring to send feedback to release pipeline and allows quick reactions like rollbacks or declining promotion to next stage in case of any issues.
Key takeaways:
• why you want to have everything as code
• why you want to automate everything
• what you should take into account to have resilient deployment of your services to production stage

Working for Finastra since 2012. I have started in a QA team where my main focus was automation of delivering test environments. A bit later, I was responsible for providing continuous tests framework for one of the company’s core products. About 3 years ago, I started to work on a project that was the origin of today’s Finastra platform. At that time my team became a QAOps team in charge of testing process automation with a strong integration with DEV team flows. Currently, I’m the leader of FusionOperate devops team. The team’s efforts are dedicated to Finastra’s platform – FFDC. We work on CI/CD in Azure DevOps, getting closer and closer to NoOps model, promoting our solution across the company.
